Everyone can RUN THE TOWN in Stark County. There are fun runs, 5k races, USATF competition, marathons, and even an ultra-marathon!
RUNNING THROUGH HISTORY 5k
The Running Through History 5K is a fun run or walk to commemorate the life of Marion Motley with proceeds benefiting his Memorial Foundation. The course is through Canton’s Stadium Park which abuts Hall of Fame Village and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Motley was a McKinley High School football athlete who went on to be among the four black players to break the color barrier in professional sports in 1946. Motley was recruited by coach Paul Brown, favorite son of nearby Massillon, to play for the Cleveland Browns. Both Motley and Brown led notable careers and are now enshrined in the bronze bust gallery among those few bestowed with the honor of induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
