Big sound is coming to Canton this summer!

Enjoy live music on the big stage or in the park. Country music stars take the stage at Hall of Fame Village in Canton, Ohio, while a local and up-and-coming line-up of talent entertains at outdoor concert venues and pavilions across Stark County.

Highway 77 Music Festival

September 12

The first annual Highway 77 Music Festival takes the stage in Canton, Ohio on Sunday, September 12 inside Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium at Hall of Fame Village powered by Johnson Controls.

Nothing beats the thrilling feel of a live concert. Enjoy the open-air stadium and feel the energy with fellow fans jamming to some of today’s hottest music superstars. The Highway 77 Music Festival features GRAMMY award winning country duo Dan + Shay. Their hit song “Speechless” is 4x Platinum with almost 1 billion global streams. The inaugural music festival also welcomes country music stars Maddie & Tae. The festival offers a full day of entertainment. Starting at 2 p.m. Eric Paslay hits the stage followed by Tyler Farr at 3 p.m. and the music continues all afternoon and evening into the night.

Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium offers great views from every angle. Any seat in the house provides a great sightline to the stage located in the east end zone of the stadium. There are field passes available, with red zone passes providing a spectacular front row view. If you prefer to take a seat and get more comfortable for your concert experience relax in the cushioned comfort of the club seats inside Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.

The Country Fest x2

June 16-19 & July 22-24

If you prefer listening to country while outside in the country add The Country Fest to the list of concerts to attend this summer. In June and again in July, country music artists perform on the big stage at Clay’s Park Resort. The premium camping resort provides a variety of accommodations onsite such as cabins, glamping tents, RV and tent sites, and there are nearby hotel accommodations at the Hampton Inn in downtown Massillon. Clay’s Park also offers a fun Adventure Water Park. Nearby, spend your day canoeing, kayaking, biking and exploring the Ohio & Erie Canalway National Heritage Area and Towpath Trail and grab a bite to eat or a sweet treat at a pick of delicious options in Canal Fulton.

The Country Fest takes place June 16-19, with headliners Chris Janson, Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen and Sam Hunt. Another festival takes place July 22-24, with headliners Jake Owen, Chris Young and Dierks Bentley. The festivals each feature over a dozen artists on stage with the concerts beginning in the afternoon and a headliner each night at 10:00 PM.

City of Champions Summer Concert Series

Thursdays, June 17-August 19

A great way to check out the new downtown cityscape in Massillon is to attend one of the summer concerts on Thursday nights in June, July, and August at Duncan Plaza. The newly renovated space will showcase ten bands over ten nights. The shows begin at 7 p.m. every Thursday night from June 17-August 19, 2021, weather permitting. The week of Independence Day the concert will take place over the holiday weekend on Saturday, July 3. A variety of classic rock and tribute bands will have the crowds boogying down during the Massillon City of Champions Summer Concert Series.

Fuel up before or after the music with wings, pizza, Italian cuisine, smoothies, or a cold craft brew at a choice of restaurants, coffee shops, bars, and a brewery within walking distance to Duncan Plaza. Also in walking distance along Lincoln Way downtown is the Massillon Museum with the Paul Brown Museum & Archive. MassMu, as the locals call it, is a nationally accredited art and history museum. Admission to visit the exhibits is free and often there are special events and activities taking place.

Live at the Library: Music and Food Truck

Thursdays, June & July

North Canton is a great destination for live music and to try someplace new to eat on Thursday evenings this summer. At the North Canton Public Library, each Thursday evening in June and July 2021 features a live band and a food truck. 

In fact, you could start your evening in North Canton from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Then, after a short drive, continue the night of live music in Massillon for their Thursday night concert series that begins at 7 p.m. 

Concerts at the Caboose

Fridays, June & July

Bring a few chairs and spend the evening listening to music in the Caboose Parking Lot in Alliance, Ohio. A series of concerts is set on Friday nights from 6 to 8 p.m. in June and July at the corner of Main Street & Mechanic Avenue. The site, sometimes referenced as The Crossings, is a historic location where the Lake Erie, Alliance, and Wheeling Railroads cross tracks. On June 25, the John Hampu Band performs classic rock n’ roll. Jimmy and the Soul Blazers entertain with classic Mowtown sounds on July 2. Then, on July 16, Chris Kraft swoons country tunes along to his guitar.

Come down to Main Street in Alliance early to visit the one and only Troll Hole Museum, or the comedy escape room Wise Cracks. There are also various antique and resale shops for finding and picking a few flea market treasures.

Canton Bluecoats Kick-off the Season in Centennial Plaza

Sunday, August 1

The new Centennial Plaza in downtown Canton opened in late 2020 to commemorate the city as the birthplace of the National Football League 100 years prior in 1920. See the structure come to light in the evenings. Dine at Jerzee’s Café and enjoy the regular line-up of live music, or enjoy a meal and a beverage at one of the many nearby restaurants and bars. The plaza is within the city’s outdoor refreshment area, which allows for guests to enjoy libations purchased from participating businesses to-go. Take a beverage along, explore and sightsee in the DORA. Different events and concerts take place in and around Centennial Plaza on a regular basis, like the Canton Farmers Market each Saturday, June 12 – September 25 (except August 7) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the First Friday celebrations the first Friday evening of each month all year round.

A new event christening the plaza in 2021 and planned to return annually is the Bluecoats Party in the Plaza. See the world-class, award-winning, competitive drum & bugle corps kick off their eagerly awaited return to performing. On Sunday, August 1, spend an afternoon listening to live music and local drum corps with a grand finale performance synchronized to the lights of Centennial Plaza launching the 2021 Bluecoats’ season.
